Obsession: Hillberg & Berk

By leighlotus · November 24, 2009

I'm a big believer in giving credit where credit is due, and anyone who stands in front of the panel of Dragons' Den and can stand their grounds deserve credit. That's exactly why I decided to do a blog about Canadian Jewelry Designer and Founder of HIllberg and Berk a personal favorite of mine.

In 2008, 4 years after starting her company, Rachel Mielke stood in front of CBC's hit show Dragons' Den's panel. She caught the eye of W. Brett Wilson, who recognized her talent as a de

signer and a knowledgeable entrepreneur, and offered her the support sheneeded in exchange for a stake in her booming business.

In 2008 Rachel had a great year with features in Lou Lou, Fashion Magazine, Western Living, SweetSpot.ca, Estylo, and many other. She was invited to the 2008 Pre-Oscar Luxury Gifting Lounge in LA, and other events such as Toronto Fashion Incubator's press & buyers breakfast, the CCMA's and Gemini's. Rachel has received astonishing praise in the community and Canadian Jewelry industry, her designs are sold in over 35 Canadian boutiques and galleries across the country.

Check out more of Hillberg & Berk designs are their website, hillbergandberk.com and be sure to check out where you can buy these gorgeous pieces, I wear my H&B Signature Heart Ring everyday all day!

You can't wear a gorgeous dress without the perfect jewelry..

Blake Lively: Likes to be Spanked?

By leighlotus · November 24, 2009

Robin Wright Pennin Hervé Léger by Max Azria with Martin Katz jewels, and Blake Lively, in Marchesa with David Yurman jewels.

When talking about new movie "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" she explains about scenes of sexual experimentation for her character, I thought it was going to be really awkward, but as soon as they called action she snapped into the strongest character-it made it easy for me not to laugh or feel weird." And what did the GG star have to say of being on a leash? "Scared, but kind of enjoying it."

Lauren Conrad's Look

It's undeniable that 'LC' Lauren Conrad knows style. She has her own successful fashion line and a personal style that appears on the covers of dozens of magazines and fashion blogs. But it's LC's professional, chic and savvy red carpet style that keeps her on the tip of the tongue. She has a eye for classic and mature looks that reminds the industry she is a hard working and serious fashion designer. Her flawless skin and natural look are flattered in hues of black and grey using metallics, sequins, and subtle accessories.

Lauren Conrad in alice + olivia

Stacey Bendet designer and founder of alice + olivia first launched the collection in 2002 at Barneys NY. The line quickly gained momentum when Andrew Rosen, founder of Theory, acknowledged Stacey's talent and became a partner in her company. Although Stacey's original line was known for her pants she gradually expanded her collection, even starting a men's cashmere sweater collection in 2004. Now alice + olivia can be found in over 800 stores nationwide and wore by some of the most well-known celebrities! Singer Kris Allen's wife, Katherine O'Connell wore the alice + olivia Sequine Strapless Dress to the AMA's this past weekend. (below)

Marc Jacobs Says: Feminine Is In

By leighlotus · November 24, 2009

Marc Jacobs made some valid comments about women's fashion, before his NYC Fashion Week Spring 2010 show, explaining how he is sick of seeing girls in black and studs, he said, "It's not such an individual expression," Which has inspired LotusloveLeigh to show you some of the soft and feminine dresses that are flooding the runways in the Spring 2010 shows. Let's all show off our more feminine sides this spring, check out some of my faves from the runway!  As Marc said, "If last season was a trip back in time to the eighties," he continued, "this was a trip to the theater, the ballet, the opera."

Red Carpet Looks: AMA's 2009

By leighlotus · November 23, 2009

It's that time of year again, all the red carpet looks are rolling out and I couldn't help but notice a few fabulous looks from last night's American Music Awards 2009!!

The "Happy" singer, Leona Lewis, looked stunning in a Vivienne Westwood dress and Robert Anthony shoes and accessories. Although, she looked gorgeous as always, I couldn't help but notice how little it showed of her natural beauty, I felt like with all that was going on with this look it overtook her and let me only remembering the dress and overlooking the amazing and talented women wearing it!

Anyone else thinking Ms. Westwood was inspired by the lovely Lady GaGa?

Miss Carrie Underwood came out last night in a beautiful mini dress by Theia. The soft metallics and elegant greek-inspired one shoulder dress with an embellished broach and jeweled belt only enhanced her natural beauty and gorgeous smile! The Favorite Female Artist in Country nominee preformed her new single Cowboy Casanova.

A ray of sunshine, Shakira blows her fans kisses in a form fitting yellow hue Versace dress with assymetrical silver lines and hem-line cutouts. The sexy hip shaker performed her hit single "Give It Up To Me" without Lil Wayne, but accompanied by a set of fantastic dancers! Girl looked stunning!

Everyone seems to be talking about risk taker Rihanna's Marchesa dress. This structured black gown made Rihanna impossible to ignore, the rose laser cut-outs create a peak-a-boo look, but was it maybe a little bit too much? You decide.. leave your comments!
